Kolwezi Cobalt Processing Project

Status:  Chevalier owns 100% of this project.

Development objectives for this project are to complete the appropriate metallurgical tests on the cobalt ore samples, design the plant flowsheet and to initiate the plant construction in Kolwezi.

Metallurgical consultant Bumigeme Inc. has provided a preliminary flowsheet to produce a 30%+ concentrate of cobalt from 2.0 to 3.0% CoO(OH) content feed. The propose plant design capacity would be in the order of 25t/h. A 200 kg samples of typical ore available in large amount in Kolwezi has been received by Bumigeme. The consultant will perform on this sample various concentration and metalurgical tests to opimized the proposed flowsheet and cobalt recovery.

Chevalier has purchase a 2.25 km2 land package in an industrial park located near the town of Kolwezi. The area is specifically devoted to the mineral processing enterprises and is serviced with a high voltage powerline, water and a tailing pond.

Chevalier has negotiated and signed a preliminary agreement with organized artisan mining Co-op (SEMAK) for the eventual supply of low to medium grade cobalt rich (heterogenite) ores to the processing plant.
