Kitana Copper-Cobalt Project
Location
The project site is located about 65 km north-west of the city of Likasi, near the town of Kitana. The city of Likasi is located on the Lubumbashi-Kolwezi main road, about 120 km north-west of Lubumbashi. The headquarters of many local and international mining companies are located in the city. It has a highway and rail connections to the ports of Durban (South Africa) and Dar-Es-Salaam (Tanzania).
Mineralization
The site is located in the center section of the Katanga Copper Belt region, adjacent to the Freeport-McMoran Tenke-Fungurume copper project. Copper and cobalt mineralization occurs throughout the property, respectively in the form of malachite and heterogenite.
Exploration objective
The primary objective of the project is to identify copper-cobalt deposits, and to estimate mineral reserves of the property. Exploration work would initially focus on mineralized areas identified in the geological report.
